Glencolmcille: Musket Ball Embedded into Boulder

Description
Rolleiflex 3.5, Plus-X 125 If you walk too quickly up the mountain toward the Napoleonic Signal Tower, you will undoubtedly miss this unobtrusive and unassuming site: a 1" musket ball, embedded deeply into a boulder just large enough to hide a crouched individual. Possibly dating from the 1798 Rebellion, the boulder's face is dotted with numerous smooth indentations of roughly the same size, leading one to believe that there were many shots fired here. Who hid behind this boulder, and why?
